Classic Roast Beef Recipe

This recipe came from a friend, Debbie. It is absolutely perfect!!

For those of you who remember George Burns and Gracie Allen...

Gracie Allen's Classic Recipe for Roast Beef
1 large Roast of beef
1 small Roast of beef
Take the two roasts and put them in the oven.
When the little one burns, the big one is done.

Three Sisters

Both my sisters came to visit over Labor Day weekend. Here is a picture of all of us with our Mom. This is a rare get together. It had been about 3 years since everyone was in the same city at the same time. This pic was taken after 4 hours at a local flea market in 100 degree heat. Thank goodness it has cooled off since then.

Thanks again for looking at my blog. Please leave a note if you have time. Joan

Preview NEW Flannels

I have been swamped getting orders out and getting new fabric listed. Here is a preview to a couple of the new groupings I am getting ready to list. I hate to part with the butterfly coordinates in the pink and green but I have Sew many other projects lined up. They will be listed in 1/2 yard each sets for a total of 2 1/2 yards. Multiple purchases, as always will be in continuous pieces.

The dots are super blenders, also flannel. They will be sold in fat quarter sets of 8 with continuous multiple purchases as well. I don't cut them until they sell.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend. Think of me working my poor little fingers to the bone.

It is raining again.......it has rained almost all day. Cooling things off a bit but in Florida Fall and Winter are still months away.

New Ebay Listings

I have been listing a bunch of new flannel on Ebay. Still quite a few new bolts to go.

All the new patterns are listed.

I have a bunch of scraps I'm cutting into 4" squares and sorting. There will be some neat "I SPY" squares and lots of florals and blenders. Take a peak, please!

My DD will start her new job at City Center, the newest and largest hotel and casino in Las Vegas on my birthday, 12/12. She has been a dealer at Mandalay Bay since they opened so luckily she'll keep all of her seniority with MGM. I am so proud of her.

That's all for me today.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have something new to share.

Hugs to everyone......Joan

So Glad It's Wednesday!!

Someone at work sent me these great uses for Fabric Softener Sheets...pretty amazing if they work. "Bounce" is recommended but it seems that the static removing properties of even the inexpensive store brand will also work. Here they are:

The US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.

Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer.

It really works. The insects just veer around you.

All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.
14.. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.
21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.
22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe love bugs off easily with the wet Bounce.
23. If you have a dog that has fine hair and static makes shocks and makes their hair fly away, just smooth a sheet of Bounce down across their back. They will smell good and have no more static.

Lots of New Items in My Ebay stores

Well, the holiday weekend was great but exhausting. My sister and brother in law drove up from Miami and my youngest sister flew in from New York. That was a nice surprise. We all stay so busy that it is a rare occasion when we can get together. We ate a lot, visited the local flea market on Sunday, ate a lot and now everyone has gone home. Did I mention that we ate a lot?

My hubby bought me a couple of gorgeous plants at the flea market. An orchid plant that is in full bloom with some additional sprays of buds that will bloom soon and an unusual pitcher plant known as Nepenthes. It is a carnivorous plant. Favorite food is bugs. I say give it all it wants. Picture is on the left. We have to put water in each one of the pitchers every other day. Great plant. I'm hoping my thumbs are green enough to keep it going.

I'm working on listing 25 new bolts of flannel, some gorgeous Timeless Treasures batiks and newly acquired patterns today. You can click on the Ebay links on the left to see what is new.
Wishing everyone a great Tuesday..........Joan

Well, so far, so good. Here are some of the kids and grandkids:

Karen and Lauren at High School graduation this year.

Next is my SIL, Duane with the boys, Aaron, Austin and Bubba.

Aren't they precious? But, so far away. They live in Las Vegas and I'm in Florida. We haven't been out there in forever.

Hopefully, they will all come here for the opening of the Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios.

Here is my beloved hubby. Nicest guy in the world!! The little one is the youngest granddaughter, Summer. She was 2 in this pic.

Here are the Doxies. I call this picture "The Two Headed Dog"

The Dinosaur and the Computer

WELCOME - WELCOME - WELCOME!!!
WOW, I never felt as old and technically challenged as when I spent an hour this morning trying to find the way to add posts to my blog. If this works, then I succeeded.

The reason I started my blog was to share my friends' sites as well as to promote some of the items I sell. Besides the patterns and fabric, now that I have some extra time, I am starting to make some quilts and totebags. At least I am comfortable sewing as opposed to blogging.
Here are some of my recently finished items:
A Winnie the Pooh Rag Quilt (Crib Size)

Tinker Bell Rag Quilt (Crib Size)

Raggy Tote Bag from Moda "Pretty in Pink" fabrics.

Thanks for looking at my Blog. I promise it will improve with experience. Please post your comments and links to your blogs. I look forward to making more wonderful friends on the internet.
Check back for a link to the listing for a Charity Quilt auction to benefit the SG Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness. Some of the girls in one of our Ebay groups have contributed quilt blocks and Teri http://ragamuffinquilts.blogspot.com is putting it together. Please bid, it is such a great cause!!
See you soon, Joan
